Cable Repair - Sirius South Repair Exposed Section

Global Marine has been contracted to undertake an emergency fibre optic submarine cable repair to the Sirius South fibre optic cable in the UK EEZ of the Irish Sea.

The vessel CS Sovereign has already mobilised from Portland at 16:00 and will be arriving on site at approximately 04:00 on the Tuesday the 15th January 2019. The repair will take approximately 5 days depending on weather and other operational conditions on site. The exact coordinates of the repair site will follow however it is estimated to be near

 

53˚42.332'N 04˚41.045'W which is situated within the UK EEZ.

 

Please distribute this information accordingly so that other sea users are aware. The vessel will be limited in manoeuvrability. Other vessels should maintain a distance of at least 1NM from the cable ship during operations, and 1/4NM from any cable buoys in place during the course of the repair for safety.  Please contact myself or Paul Stalley, Maintenance Manager (in copy)  if you have any queries regarding this notification or if you have any information on any underwater activity in this area that is relevant to the proposed operation.
